Did you know that mushrooms are not a vegetable or a fruit? Well I guess it is in a family all its own, it is in the fungus family. Don’t let that turn you off; mushrooms have a lot of nutritional benefit s which I will share with you. It increases your vitamin D, boost your immune system, supplying antioxidants to your body, kick up your metabolism, good for you bladder. Whatever your favorite—crimini, enoki, oyster, portobello, shiitake or white button—all mushrooms are loaded with essential nutrients.
This Low Carb Garlic Mushroom recipe is superb, served on you steak or just as a side dish. I served them when one of my daughters was home and she couldn’t stop mentioning how delicious they were.
It’s a must to try!
White mushrooms (16oz equaled approx. 18 mushrooms)
¼ cup butter
1 tsp. garlic powder (or use 2 gloves of fresh garlic)
1 Knorr Beef Bouillon Cube
Optional fresh parsley
In frying pan melt butter, garlic, bouillon cube and add mushrooms. Cover, cook on medium heat for approx. 20 minutes. Remove lid, stir occasionally and cook until all moisture has evaporated and you have your mushrooms in a thicker butter sauce.
Yield: The mushrooms weighed approx. 23grams each.
18 mushrooms = 12.8 net carb
1 mushroom = .7 net carb
