Sometimes I get tired of eating my Hamburg patty or cold cuts in a leaf of lettuce or just dressing up the meat with tomato, mustard etc. This Low Carb Fluffy Bun is one more ticket to finding something that is closer to the real Hamburg Bun. Sure it is not the same as the real thing, but am I ever happy with the results of this recipe. It does not fall apart when you add all your toppings.
It is not perfect yet!
But I will continue to search and experiment until I find a better one.
2 oz cream cheese
2 eggs separated
1/8 tsp cream of tartar
Preheat oven to 300F
Separate your eggs; 2 whites in one bowl and 2 yolks in another bowl
Soften your cream cheese add to the yolks and mix well until smooth
In the bowl with the egg whites gradually add the cream of tartar while beating with an electric mixer on high until they form peaks
Carefully fold the yolk mixture into the egg whites until combined
Grease your pan (Pam) (coconut oil) place batter into rounds
Bake in the oven for approximately 30 minutes or until golden brown
I used a whoppie pan to bake mine and when they were baked I turned my buns upside down and they really looked like real bread Hamburg Buns. How fun is that!
Makes: 4
Yield: 1 net carb
Remember you need two halves to make the full bun, so you are looking at 2 net carbs!
