How to Make Healthy Bacon Bits
No more going to the store buying those simulated bacon bits. Store bought bacon bits are made mostly from soy flour, soybean oil, artificial flavoring and food coloring. It is so easy and you know you are getting the real thing when you make your bacon bits in the comfort of your own home. You can use bacon bits as condiments on salads, pizzas, sandwiches, pastas and more!
The first thing to do is buy healthy bacon. You need to search and find an all-natural, no preservatives and nitrate free product and one of the products I found is Schneider’s Country Natural Bacon. You can find this bacon in any grocery store, it cost a bit more money than regular bacon but it is worth it.
Tip: Put bacon grease in glass jar, store in refrigerator. Use for other cooking.

Frying Pan (the deeper the frying pan the better, prevent grease splash)
Kitchen Scissors
Open bacon package, with scissors cut the bacon in half to make it easier to handle. Take half the bacon and cut small strips and place in frying pan; continue until all bacon is cut into small pieces.
Turn stove burner to high heat, once bacon starts to cook, turn to medium heat, stir occasionally and cook until crispy.
Remove from heat, place strainer on bowl, empty bacon and grease through strainer, stir bacon bits to help remove grease.
Put bacon bits in paper towel to soak up extra grease. Place in container and refrigerate.
