My Atkins 2 Week Induction Journey

Well! As of Monday October 28, 2014 I have started Atkins Induction. Since last Christmas I have been finding that I am slowly falling off the low carb eating and the pounds are slowly creeping up on me. It has taken me almost a year to get back on track and I am quite surprised from watching “The Weightloss Solution” which has truly motivated me to get back on track. As of Wednesday I am in ketosis and have lost 4 unwanted pounds. I have 6 more to go to get back on track.

Does anyone want to join me?

Monday Oct 28:

photos fish, brownies 004Breakfast: 2 Fried Eggs with 2 slices of bacon

Lunch: made a Caesar Salad with bacon bits my garlic dressing which you can find on my site
https://www.lowcarbrecipeideas.com/low-carb-creamy-garlic…/ sprinkle of Parmesan cheese.

Supper: large chicken breast wrapped with bacon, cooked cabbage and another Caesar Salad. It is amazing that I was not hungry at all. Drinking plenty of water through the day
.
Tuesday Oct 29:

Breakfast: Made an omelet with 2 eggs and 2 slices of bacon.

photos fish, brownies 007Lunch: Steamed broccoli and large Hamburg patty cooked with onions. (I cooked extra patties for the future)

Supper: Spare Ribs, steamed cauliflower and broccoli. Lots of water through the day.

Do not have cravings and feel full.

Wednesday Oct 30:

It was a busy day this day,

Breakfast: I sound like I’m repeating myself but 2 slices of bacon, 2 fried eggs ( I do not have trouble repeating meals in induction I find it easier to do it this way) I still enjoy the food I’m eating.

Lunch: I actually missed and was not hungry

Supper: Ate 2 left over hamburgers, cooked cabbage with lots of butter and cauliflower. Lots of water. Went Curling in the evening.

Thursday Oct 31: Stepped on the scale this morning and down 1 more pound  I have 5 to go

Breakfast: 2 slices of bacon and 2 eggs.

Lunch:Lettuce, onion, mushrooms, celery, tomatoes.
Vinegar, Olive Lemon Juice Dressing
• 1/4 cup Organic Olive Oil
• couple of drops of stevia
• 1/4 cup Lemon Juice
• 3/4 tsp Cumin
• 1/2 tsp Cayenne Pepper

chicken thighs and salada 001Supper: 3 chicken thighs (skin on), Steamed cauliflower, broccoli with salt and butter, another ceasar salad with bacon and my garlic dressing. Drank a lot of water.

So, I am looking forward to seeing what the scale has to say. See you tomorrow!

Friday Nov 1: got up this morning checked to make sure I am still in ketosis and happy to say the stick even shows darker. Stepped on the scale and lost another .7 of a pound. I am so excited!

Friday: Breakfast: as usual I had my pre-cooked 2 slices of bacon and 2 fried eggs. When I cook my bacon I always save the bacon grease to use later and used it to cook the eggs.

I am drinking lots of water throughout the day.

Lunch: I truly was not hungry for lunch and did not eat until 1:00pm which consisted of left over hamburg pattie and a small Ceasar Salad with bacon bits and 1 tsp of parmesan cheese.

photos fish, brownies 015Supper: Roast Beef, cup of broccoli with butter and seasoning.

I put a large roast of beef in the crockpot covered it with chicken broth ½ onion and let it cook all day. I cannot eat anymore I find when I am eating low carb that I do not get as hungry and feel full a lot quicker.

You are to eat until you are full, you are not to gorge.

Saturday: Nov 2: 2 scrambled eggs, 2 slices of bacon. For the scrambled eggs I whisked them with a little water, salt and pepper.

Lunch: I ate quite late in the afternoon 3:00, I made a salad with romaine, tomatoes and 1 tablespoon for sundried tomato dressing and small amount of feta cheese to taste and leftover roast beef.

Supper: Nothing

We went out in the evening to play cards and the host had vegetables, dip and chunks of cheese. So I ate broccoli and cheese and everyone else drank wine while I drank water.

I think the trick to be successful in losing weight on induction is to cook extra food every time you cook and have the leftovers in the fridge so you always have the correct food available for when you need it instantly. It is so tempting to grab the wrong food if you don’t have something prepared in advance.

photos fish, brownies 008Using the Ketostix to test your urine to see if you are in ketoses helps motivate you (in fact you will probably test more than you should because it’s a great feeling thinking that you are shading those pounds. I purchased mine from the pharmacy; just ask the pharmacist, they usually keep them behind the counter. The ones I purchased are made by Bayer with 50 strips and I paid $6.95, I totally feel it is worth it.

Well good morning all, the scale told me .4 of a pound which is understandable. This is quite personal matter, but sometimes when you are in the Atkins induction stage you can become constipated. For 2 days now that function has not worked so I am going to have a glass of water and add 1 tablespoon of photos fish, brownies 019psyllium, drink it up and things should start working again. I will do this for the next couple of days. (Psyllium is in powder form, you can buy it at Bulk Barn, health food stores and grocery stores usually in the organic aisles).

Got up this morning, same routine, in ketosis, stepped on the scale and lost another .5 of a pound which makes a total of 5 pounds for the week. I am very happy with this.
Sunday Nov 3:
Breakfast: 2 eggs made into scrambled eggs, 2 slices of bacon.

Lunch: Late lunch 3:00, salad: romaine with cherry tomatoes and drizzled with 1 tablespoon of Kraft Sun-Dried Tomato & Oregano.
I am not supposed to use this dressing but my carb count is low so I’m not concerned.

Supper: BBQ Steak with Herbamare Spice and whipped Cauliflower (just like potatoes adding butter and seasoning.
I broke down and had 1 low carb brownie bite. (The carb count is only 1.6 net carbs per bite). I will be putting it on my site this week. Yummmm Yummm!

Monday, Nov 4:
Monday supper, tea 004In my second week of induction Nov. Woke up this morning stepped on the scale and sadly, I gained 1 pound. I have been having this constipation problem so I broke down and drank a cup of Organic Smooth Move Tea. It is for the overnight relief but I drank it this morning.

Breakfast: 2 scrambled eggs and 2 slices of bacon

Lunch: Ceasar Salad, bacon bits, parmesan cheese.

Supper: BBQ Pork Chop, mashed cauliflower potatoes and cooked cabbage.

Drank plenty of water through the day

This tea worked for me and feel better, let’s see what happens tomorrow.
Is there anyone out there that has joined me on this journey?
Tuesday; Nov5: Got on the scale to find I lost 1 pound so I am back to losing 5 pounds.

Breakfast: 2 Fried eggs and 3 slices of 0 carb bacon

Lunch: Leftover Porkchop, mashed califlower and cooked cabbage

chicken supper tuesday 002Supper: Large Chicken Breast cooked in my Rotisserie, large Ceasar Salad

Plenty of water throughout the day, and one cup of decaf Tea
I did not have any hunger through the day, still in a strong ketosis and feel really good with lots of energy.
Talk with you tomorrow!

Wednesday: Nov 6
Good morning all! I am happy to say I am down another pound. Friday will be the last day that I will be sharing my Atkins Induction journey with you.

Breakfast: 2 egg omelet with red peppers, broccoli and bacon crumbs with cherry tomatoes on the side.

Lunch: Romaine Salad with 2 hard boil egg, celery, bean sprouts, cucumbers, radishes with sun-dried tomato dressing.

Supper: Left over chicken and cooked cabbage.

Drank plenty of water through the day.

We went Curling in the evening for some great exercise and I did cheat and had a Rum and Diet Pepsi with the group.
Atkins suggests not drinking alcohol because it can slow the weight loss process down. But I must say I enjoyed it!

Thursday: Nov 7

Breakfast: 3 boiled eggs, 3 bacon slices

Lunch: Finished up the leftover ribs with a small salad

Supper: Left over chicken thighs, roasted broccoli, cauliflower and red peppers drizzled with olive oil

Friday: Nov 8

Well this is the end of my induction journey with you. I have lost a total of 7 pounds in this time period and feel so much better.
It is wise when your weight gain gets away on you, try to nip it in the butt before there are to many pounds to try and get rid of.
I would like to lose 3 more and will go into OWL and than lose the rest. I need more variety so going into owl will help me to stay on track.

Breakfast: Didn’t eat until 11:30 2 fried eggs, 2 slices of bacon

Lunch: Did not eat lunch

chickenball and spaghetti 001Supper: Ground chicken meatballs and cabbage spaghetti with marinara sauce

Remember to drink plenty of water everyday.

Don’t eat just to eat, eat when you are hungry. It is recommended to eat know later then 6 hours.

Thank you for following on my journey and I hope it has inspired you to try and lose some of those excess pounds.

Tips for success when in Atkins Induction

I think the biggest and most important thing to do when you are trying to lose weight is to always have fresh induction vegetables in your fridge such as your Salad Vegetables: alfalfa sprouts, arugula, bok choy, celery, chicory, chives, cucumber, fennel lettuce, mushrooms peppers, radishes, romaine.
Asparagus, broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, eggplant, leeks, pumpkin, spinach, wax beans and many more low carb veggies.

Try and schedule your meals for the week and prepare most of yous meats a head of time.

Precook a pound of bacon so all you have to do is prepare your eggs or omelets.

Always cook extra meat at every meal so you have left overs in the fridge.

You don’t want to be tempted to grab the bad food because you do not have anything prepared in the fridge.

And use that Crock Pot put your food in it in the morning and you will be ready when you get home.

These are just some tips to get you on the right track!

Stay Healthy and Live Well!
